Over the past 10 years the holiday industry has changed more than it did do for the previous 20 years mainly because of the opening up of the market due to the increase in the number of people who are choosing to book their holiday on the inter web rather than through a traditional travel agent and because of the increase in the number of low cost airline companies flying to traditional holiday resorts all over the world. Because of this the holiday industry had to change to both protect its market share as well as to try to win back business that was being lost, there were two ways that they could do this, either reduce the cost of many of the holidays or come up with new and fresh ideas to attract customers back. Reducing the prices of the holidays was never really going to be an option as in many cases the margins were too low to justify a price decrease so the only possible option that was available to the travel companies was to come up with new ideas to entice tourists back to them rather than flying solo. So how did they achieve this and how has it changed the way we holiday?
For many years now the multitude of holiday makers have packed their bags and enjoyed a two week vacation sat around a hotel swimming pool or sat on a beach, there is not much that the holiday industry could do to change this although the creation of the all inclusive resort some years back was an attempt to slightly change the way we spent our money on holiday, ensuring that the money that you used to spend in local bars and restaurants was given straight to the holiday companies. The only way that holiday companies could try to get business back was to try to re-invent our summer vacations and this was done by changing the face of the cruise holiday.
Cruise line holidays are the biggest growing sector of the travel industry at present with up to a 15 per cent increase year on year of people booking to go on a cruise. Many of these people are first time cruisers who have been tempted into going on a cruise line holiday because of the fact that the old reputation of a cruise, very formal and stuffy, has been relaxed to make the cruise more like a holiday on water rather than a 5 start hotel on water. The cruise line ships themselves are fantastic floating entertainment palaces that have every imaginable type of entertainment on board for every member of the family. There are kid's entertainment clubs to keep the children occupied during the day and any number of adult activities available throughout the day such as keep-fit, swimming and golf. Most ships are equipped with a well stocked gym that will keep even the healthiest of people entertained for hours.
Many people are trying out a cruise line holiday as they do offer every member of the family a completely different holiday experience to a beach and pool holiday as well as offering enough entertainment to keep you busy right throughout the day. You can take a cruise line holiday to any number of destinations world- wide and use the holiday to visit many different locations on one vacation. If you are looking at booking a totally different holiday this year and looking to keep the whole family entertained for two weeks then maybe a cruise line holiday is the holiday for you.
